NATURAL UNDERFOOT
As a responsible, family business, care for the environment and traditional industries is important to Brockway. Wool is used in all of our carpets: it's a 100% natural product and by using it we help support long-established farming communities and a unique way of life in areas of the UK and beyond. Lakeland Herdwick, for example, uses wool from the prized Herdwick flocks grazing the higher reaches of the Lake District, helping to support a sustainable future for the region's hill farmers. For our Shetland range, we buy yarn from the only official supplier of Shetland Wool who deals directly with the Islands' crofters, buying 95% of their total product.
A STAKE IN THE FUTURE
Brockway is a highly innovative company and we focus on developing production methods that are more sustainable and create less waste. Our Envirobac system replaces conventional latex backing with polymer granules, and our whole manufacturing process is effluent free with no harmful emissions and much less impact on the environment. We're keen to seek out secondary markets for our waste products: our carpet edge trimmings are used in mattress manufacture, and we're working with Carpet Recycling UK to turn the carpet dust created by our shearer into agricultural fertiliser. Reducing waste isn't only good for our business; it's better for future generations, too.
