It can be incredibly exciting choosing a brand-new carpet for your home, especially if it’s been a while since you’ve had one, so the last thing you want is to be worrying about if you have got your measurements correct. We want you to have an entirely stress-free time when using Brockway Carpets, so we have pieced together a straightforward guide on ‘how to measure a room for carpet’ so you can get the tape measure out and put your worries aside!
Once you have browsed through our beautiful ranges and decided on the floor covering that you would like for your project, you will then need to know how much carpet you are going to require, so feel free to check out our easy step by step guide on how to measure your room in the correct way.
Follow these four steps below, to help get you started and so you can have a rough idea of how much you will be looking at:
Step 1: Draw a floorplan of the room that you want to measure (see example to the right).
Step 2: Measure all the way into the doorway recesses and bay windows.
Step 3: Measure any drop backs, alcoves, fireplaces or fitted cupboards that you may have.
Step 4: Measure the width of the widest part of the room, then measure across the room at a few different points (as not all walls are parallel), so this is important for getting an accurate measurement.
All Brockway carpets should be installed using appropriate good quality underlay and by professional installers in accordance with BS5325 or the NICF.
