@amelia.home creates a calming sanctuary with Beachcomber

2 May 2023

Working as a clinical trial project manager there isn't much room for creativity, which is where @amelia.home comes in, it provides a platform to document my passion for interior design and styling, and also documents the journey of our Victorian Semi in Yorkshire.

We bought our house back in 2020, as first time buyers we had little experience in anything home related and the whole process has been a learning curve to say the least. We got the keys in Feb 2020 and then COVID hit, with little else to do we got to work decorating the house. We had synthetic grey carpets throughout the whole of the upstairs which at this point we had no plans of changing, as my style evolved and I got to grips with how I wanted the house to look, it became very clear that these carpets would not cut it. All I could think about was swapping the carpet out for a warm, cosy wool carpet that would complement the house so much better and stand the test of time - little did I know the impact changing these carpets would actually make on the rooms!

If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen we transformed our formal lounge into a cosy haven which we can retreat into in an evening - we added Beachcomber Strand in Driftwood which is the perfect loop to sink your feet into whilst also being a colour that can evolve with our style, which will no doubt changes over the years to come.Having lived with this carpet for 6 months I knew this was the perfect choice for the whole house, we have started with replacing the master bedroom and guest bedroom - even my husband, was has no interest in interiors, continually comments on how gorgeous the carpet is and how it has transformed the rooms. Our master bedroom is painted in Rolling Fog, we've added panelling and built-in wardrobes and kept everything the same colour to create a calming sanctuary, which meant the carpet needed to add some texture and depth to this room and my goodness does it deliver, the perfect finishing touch for this room. Our guest bedroom is painted in a green beige and the carpet goes just as well in this room, it adds the much needed texture and softness which makes the room feel inviting and comfortable. I can't wait to have guests over to experience this newly finished room.

Brockway is the home of wool carpets who use British craftmanship to produce their high-quality, durable and long-lasting carpets. Having now used these in our home you can tell they are passionate about their carpets and fully deliver on what the set out to create. I can safely say it will only be Brockway carpets for us going forwards.
