Grand Designs Live, an event which has established itself as the UK’s leading consumer show for self-build and design, showcasing the latest innovation for the home, launched their 2022 "Working from Home Project" competition for budding professional Interior Designers. This year the competition explored ‘The multi-functional home office' and all the ways to make your home office the perfect work environment for you. More houses are creating a space for a home office, but they seem to be a struggle to dedicate a whole room to so making it multi-functional can solve all the problems.
Danielle Reales an Interior Designer currently studying at KLC school of design was one of five designers selected to create a "Working from Home" roomset. When Danielle approached us to assist with her project we were delighted to help, she chose the chunky opulence of Beachcomber Pebble to make a cosy yet smart and contemporary addition to her scheme. With a nod to the classic, pale neutrals of the Nordic palette, the sumptuous feel of this undyed, pure wool, textured, loop pile carpet added just the right amount of textural interest and depth to the space.
I chose to put wool carpet as the floor covering in my design for various reasons. Acoustically it is great at dampening sound, wool is sourced sustainably, it helps to insulate the room and keeps the room feeling warm and cosy - great for reducing those ever rising energy bills. Once I had made this decision, partnering with Brockway was a no brainer. I love that they are a family run business who source all of their wool from sheep on British farms, valuing traditional farming methods. Having used their carpets in other designs, I know that they are always of high quality and they both look and feel luxurious and beautiful.
